How to Remove Wine Stains from a Dress
Act Quickly: The sooner you treat the stain, the better the chance of removing it completely.
Blot the Stain: Use a clean cloth or paper towel to gently blot (don’t rub) the stain to soak up as much wine as possible.
Apply Cold Water: Rinse the stained area with cold water from the back of the fabric to push the stain out rather than deeper in.
Use Salt or Baking Soda: While the fabric is still damp, sprinkle salt or baking soda generously over the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes to absorb the wine.
Rinse Again: Rinse the salt or baking soda off with cold water.
Apply Stain Remover: Use a stain remover suitable for the fabric type (check the label). Gently rub it into the stain.
Wash According to Care Label: Wash the dress as per the care instructions—preferably in cold water.
Check Before Drying: Before putting the dress in the dryer, make sure the stain is completely gone. Heat can set the stain permanently.
